What has happened and what is new?

ITC 2000

The Instructor Training Course (ITC) 2000 is scheduled to be held in mid-October. The Instructor Training Course will be held on 14 and 15 October weekend. The activities during the weekend will include the pool lesson and the lecture session that course participants have to prepare and conduct. The final assessment which is the Club Instructor Examination (C.I.E.) for Club Instructor Qualification is scheduled for 19 October. The venue is Tanglin Club. The pre-requisite for taking the ITC is the BS-AC Diver Leader Qualification. BS-AC divers who are interested in becoming instructors are encourage to take up courses leading to the Dive Leader qualification, and be qualified before the date of the ITC.

The course for Open Water Instructor (OWI) is scheduled for 26 October. The venue is Raffles Marina. ITC candidates who have taken the ITC and successfully sat for the CIE can take the OWI course. The award of the OWI qualification is awarded on submission of a record of open water instruction.

BSAC divers can take also this opportunity to arrange for a special Advanced Instructor (AI) Course. The pre-requisites for becoming an AI is the Open Water Instructor (OWI) and an Advanced Diver qualification. Interested parties must write to the Regional Coach.

Association of International Scuba Training Agencies (AISTA)

The Association of International Scuba Training Agencies (AISTA) is officially registered in Singapore on 5 January 2000. The Association will be inaugurated by a mini-conference to be held over the weekend of 7 October, at Raffles Marina. Attendance to the Inauguration and the Mini-Conference is by invitation only.
